All About Sol

First of all, just in case you've ever wondered, we pronounce his name as it rhymes with "all" - hence the title today - because you didn't really think this would be "all" about Sol, did you? No, just mostly ;)

First up is an awesome giveaway over at Pitter Patter Art. The Kelley's have been waiting for their newest little guy for 9 months now, and Laura's giving away an original art piece in honor and celebration of him. Click here to check it out - and to enter - and do it today, because it ends tonight!

Now, back to my Sol...and just so you know, I'm linking up for Friday Favorites today...go check those out too...they're always cool and inspiring.

friday favorite things finding joy

Is it bad to single out just one kid for my Friday Favorite? It's not like my singling him out means he's my "favorite" or anything...it's just that he's the one on my mind right now.

He's been pulling up now for quite awhile, but this week (and even a bit of last) he's been pulling up and letting go and just standing there all on his own. Sigh.

And he also seems to be going through a personality change - becoming more laid back...more easy-going.

It's not that he was a "difficult" baby. It's just that he wouldn't sleep. At all. And that made him a grouchy baby. Alot.

He's finally sleeping (at least a little), and that has made all the difference. He takes one (shortish) nap a day and usually sleeps about 9 hours a night. I know it's not much, but it's definitely better than what he was {not} doing.

A friend told me the other day that "not needing much sleep" is a sign of super intelligence in children...Well looks like we must have a genius on our hands then!

I mean look at him...he already knows how to drive

and how to do laundry

and he's not even 1 yet! There's no telling what the future holds for him.

But until then, as long as I am able, I'm just going to soak him up

because (along with all of his brothers and sisters) he is definitely one of my favorites!

But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD,

I wait for God my Savior;

my God will hear me.

  1. Love these pictures! He is so cute. And those jammies? Adorable.

My favorite picture? The one with the keys in the mouth. Too funny -- and it seems to capture his personality. :)

    Blessings friend.

  2. Even after a year I'm still blog illiterate so I didn't know if you would get notified if I tried to reply to your sweet note on my blog or not, but I know you'll see it here:

First, embalming practices must have improved since your Dad went thru; we may or may not shower after the lab before studying or doing whatever and we haven't notice a smell problem so far. We change clothes and wash our hands really well of course:-) And yes, it is really fascinating.

Second, thank you so much for the encouragement and prayers. There are times when studying when you just have to stop and focus on something else for a few minutes and this blog is one of my favorite distractions :-) Those kids are just so precious and I wish I still had the chance to hang around with them! Its strange to think that I don't even really know the youngest 2! And it's always a kick in the butt (in a really good way!) to read about how God gets you through the days (good and bad) being responsible for 7 other little ones. I'm doing good to keep my own life in order, haha.

And if you have any funny stories from your Dad's med school or career, I'd love to hear! Haha!

    Blessings!
