Linking up with Carissa today...
Sol turned 9 months old yesterday.
Man, he's beautiful!
And now that he's {finally} sleeping more - but don't go and assume that he's sleeping alot or anything, because let me assure, he. is. not. ;) - he's become a much happier baby. He laughs and squeals and smiles and babbles now, and it all really is quite beautiful.
Of course, now that he's mastered pulling up on anything and everything, he's begun practicing letting go. He can usually balance 3 or 4 seconds before tumbling down, but the way he's going, I know it won't be long. And he's definitely secured his position as our only "binky baby." I don't know why, but we never really even offered a binky to our other babies, but this little guy is hardly ever without one, except when he ejects it to eat (or I take it out for pictures). It really is quite funny. And, if the past couple of weeks are any indication, it's looking like he's going to be a blankie baby too. (I heart blankie babies!)
And since Sarah had begun scaling her bed at will, at all hours of the day and night, I finally just relented and removed the side of her crib. I figured the last thing I needed was for her to fall and break something climbing over the rail in the pitch black darkness of her room in the middle of the night - every night - often multiple times every night. Of course, that did effectively bring an end to her afternoon nap time around here. Sigh. But with the rowdies around, it's not like nap time was ever really a quiet time or anything. Man those kids don't know what they're missing! I'd love for someone to tell me take a nap everyday.
The funny - or depending on how tired I am, not-so-funny - thing now that she has complete "bed freedom" is all the silliness she pulls in the middle of the night. It is nothing to hear her little feet running up and down the halls of the house at 3 a.m. or to awake to her screaming and crying hysterically because she "lost" us. I'm not sure why, but she hasn't yet figured out that we're all in our beds sleeping in the middle of the night. She has, however, figured out where to find Michaela, and it is not uncommon at all to awake and find her snuggled up next to her big sister most every morning now.
School has officially started here - for all 5 of my oldest - and is going surprisingly well (so far). But boy is it a commitment! It literally takes me all day to get through each one's workload. I wonder if there's ever going to be a time when they're all 7 "in school"? Hmmm, with 14 years between Ben and Sol, I guess not. Whew! That could have been hard! Ha!
Of course, God has been working overtime on me lately
(because satan has been too). I've been fighting, fighting, fighting, and
(because satan has been too). I've been fighting, fighting, fighting, and
He just won't let me go
(a fact of which, of course, I am beyond grateful, but still...)

And last (and probably also "least") one of the "major" news stories on the local news last week was "How to correctly trim your fingernails." They even had a man-on-the-street interview for it. I think I watched it out of sheer disbelief - like I kept waiting for them to say "Gotcha!" or something. But they never did. And that, my friend, is why I don't watch the news.

work at it with all your heart,
as working for the LORD,

I love hearing that my house is not the only one that has little people roaming the halls at any hour! I have never had a baby that sleeps through the night before the age of 2 yrs. My sister had 3 babies that she had to wake in the mornings to feed. I never did understand that concept! Now I have "the shuffler" aka Jacob, he shuffles those feet on the wood floors all hours of the night (and he will be 11 in a few weeks.) So, I am with you on that one girl! Ooh, a nap does sound nice but I don't really know what that means either :) By the way, your kids are all beautiful just like their mommy!
ReplyDeletei know God is going to bless your family for your diligence in schooling your kiddos. go momma! you have a full load, but i know the Lord will help you with it all.
